GCSE revision,
one step at a time.

What it looks like
An example with a made-up student: a chat, then her progress page. It's simplified a little. Real replies vary, and the tutor can get things wrong.
Shown at the start of every chat: Your tutor is an AI, not a person. It can get things wrong: check anything important with your teacher.
- Maya, a made-up student:
Photo attachedI'm stuck on question 3. How do I factorise x² − 3x + 2? Shown when a photo is attached: Only send photos of your work, never of yourself or anyone else. Photos go to Anthropic, with location data removed.
- Tutor (an AI): Thanks, Maya, I can see question 3. Before we factorise anything: which two numbers multiply to give 2 and add to give −3?
- Maya: −1 and −2?
- Tutor (an AI): Yes, that's it. I'll put the graph of y = x² − 3x + 2 in the diagram pane, so we can see what those two numbers mean.
- Tutor (an AI), after the graph appears: Look where the curve crosses the x-axis. What do you notice about those two numbers?
1. y = x² − 3x + 2
Later, on her progress page. The questions Maya answers in Revise a topic and Exam practice are marked, and her marks build up topic by topic.
Maya's progress
- This week 71% 14 questions · 3 sessions
- Secure 2 topics at 75% or better
Maths 5 of 27 topics tried Average: 63%
- Number: fractions, decimals and percentages 83%
- Number: indices, standard form and surds 78%
- Algebra: quadratics (factorising, formula, completing the square) 63%
- Ratio and sharing in a ratio 42%
- Probability: tree diagrams and Venn diagrams 50%
If Maya chooses to share it, a parent or carer sees her marks and the topics she's practised. Never her chats.
What Studytutor does
There are three ways to use it:
-
Ask the tutor
Get guided to the answer step by step, not just told it. It's built to help you learn, not to do your homework.
-
Revise a topic
Answer practice questions, each marked with feedback and a model answer.
-
Exam practice
Sit a timed paper written in AQA's style, then get marks and feedback on every question.
- The tutor can draw diagrams and graphs
- It can look at photos of your written work
- A progress page shows which topics are secure
Subjects
- Maths
- English Language
- English Literature
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Computer Science
- Geography
- History
- Religious Studies
- French
- Spanish
They follow England's GCSE content, so if you're in Wales or take another exam board, parts may not match your course. Biology, Chemistry and Physics cover both combined and separate science.

Parents don't see chats
Parents and carers never see students' chats.
-
Free during the beta
It's free during the beta, with limits on use.
-
An AI, not a person
